The definition of caravan - a company of travelers and animals, most commonly camels, through the desert. Our caravan brings treasures from Morocco to be specific, which is our part-time home and full time source of inspiration for the carefully selected handcrafted items that we offer.

A little story about us…

We are Jade & Adil, an American & Moroccan couple living between Austin and Marrakech. After years of running events and custom tours in the Sahara desert, our team was hit hard by the pandemic of 2020 due to international border closures that lasted for months and a steady decrease in tourism. Our business isn’t just two people - our business provides work opportunities for a long list of professional drivers, guides, photographers, guesthouse owners, Sahara camp staff, and even about 100 camels who depend on us. Just like any small business, we had to move quickly to find a solution that would still keep things operating. Thus, The Caravan was created as a mobile souk (market) so that anyone in the world can have the rich colors and textures of Moroccan interiors in their home.

How we source our products

We work exclusively with co-ops and independent artisans to bring you the best quality Moroccan rugs, poufs and accessories at prices that are fair and reasonable. Our weaving co-op partner Iklan, located in the Sahara region of Morocco, is entirely female owned and operated. The amazing women at Iklan earn a higher percentage when there is no middle man involved, and it’s for this reason that we buy direct from them and sell direct to you. We also work with Iklan to find pristine vintage rugs that are truly one of a kind!

As an effort to continue supporting our staff during this extremely low season, we give back 10% of all Caravan sales to our team back in Morocco. We also source directly from our co-ops, so if you have a specific rug or textile request, just ask! We can have it made to order.

What does The Caravan sell?

Vintage and new rugs are our specialty, but we also offer a variety of accessories for the home and wardrobe, including leather poufs, weekender bags, upcycled vintage rug poufs & handbags, leather slippers, summer sandals, Tuareg nomad jewelry, pompom blankets, and hammam towels.
